St. Lawrence Church, West Wycombe

This exciting and unique event for singers celebrates the rich variety of the English Song genre. This international competition is presided over by a panel of distinguished judges and offers substantial prize money to a number of competitors. This website contains all the information you need about this very special event, set up in memory of John Kerr, a tenor with the Royal Opera House whose greatest love was the great body of English Song through the ages.

The next competition will be held on Saturday 10th March 2018 between 2pm - 7pm at St. Lawrence Church, Church Lane, West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, HP14 3AH. Please see the Press Area for all the details regarding the Final and the JKA English Song Weekend at West Wycombe.

  • The Christopher Ball First prize - £2,000
  • The Second Prize - £1,000
  • The Audience Prize - £500
  • The Accompanist Prize - £500

The John Kerr Award is a Corporate Member of the Association of English Singers and Speakers. The AESS is also a registered charity based in Kent and its members consist of performers, teachers and those with an interest in the communication of English words using singing and speech.
